Although there is no direct contractual link between the employer and the subcontractor in construction contracts, the main contractor, having assumed responsibility for all aspects of the project vis-à-vis the employer, will pass on its obligations and liabilities to its subcontractors through a contractual arrangement known as a back-to-back agreement.
